Block Lettering

Here is an example of using block lettering on your cover page!

If you are a fan of block lettering, then this would be an excellent option for you. In general, it is easy to read and has a classic feel. It can be as simple or as detailed as you like!

For those who love simplicity and elegance, block lettering is fantastic! This type of font can also fit nicely with any design style or theme that you have in mind because it comes with so many variations! Additionally, block lettering pairs well with almost any other font.

Hand Lettering

Hand lettering is a popular way to make your bullet journal uniquely yours.

There are many ways to personalize your hand-lettering, the most important being choosing the right style for you. You can use a straight style, loose style, or a bouncy style of writing. Whatever you choose, it always looks great in combination with regular print handwriting.

Brush Lettering

If you want to create an artistic effect, then brush lettering would be a great choice because it has a unique look and feel.

Brush lettering takes some practice, so if you are not confident trying it on your own, you can print off-hand lettering practice sheets to help you learn or perfect your technique.

Comic Lettering

If you want to go for something fun and playful, comic lettering will surely fulfill your need.

There are more than enough variations of comic lettering to choose from, and it’s a great option for those who like to use a lot of bright colors and unique effects.

Serif Font

Serif fonts typically have a more traditional appearance than sans-serif fonts, making them perfect for those who want to make their journal look elegant and professional. The main thing about serif fonts is that they can be easy to read and still give your bullet journal a nice touch.

Serif simply means that you are adding a stroke to the end of your letter for decoration. San serif would be the opposite where there is no decorative stroke.

Faux Calligraphy

Faux calligraphy is my favorite font! This font is a great way to add some style and flair to your bullet journal.

You can create faux calligraphy with just a few simple materials, such as gel pens, markers, paper. This style of calligraphy is the easiest because you write out your word however you want. Next, you go back and add a second line on all down-strokes of each letter. Then, finally, color them in! Just like that, you have faux calligraphy!

You can use the faux calligraphy technique with any style of lettering like I did here in my Beauty and the Beast themed alphabet!

Cursive Font

Cursive fonts are some of the most popular styles of handwriting to be used in journals or notebooks. If you like using cursive in general, you will also like using this type of font in your journal. Cursive has become a little bit of a lost skill, unfortunately. It's not too tricky to master, but it will take some time and practice if you are not used to writing in cursive.

If you would like to practice cursive, I have created free printable practice sheets for the entire alphabet! You can find those HERE.

Simple Font

There are a variety of simple fonts you can use that will add a special touch to the pages of your bullet journal. I love to look for font alphabets on Google Images and use them as references when writing headers or quotes in my journal.

Here are some of my favorite simple fonts you can try!

  • Typewriter font

  • Simple font

  • Dotted font

  • Hello font

Cool Fonts

Oh my goodness, there are so many cool fonts out there that this blog post could last for days! Some ideas of how to find cool fonts to use are:

  • Themed fonts - If you like to use themes in your bullet journal like me, you can find fonts to fit your theme! For example, when my theme was Harry Potter, I looked up “Harry Potter fonts.” I used two popular fonts that you see on the cover of the books and inside the chapters of the books. Here are some pictures of the fonts I used.

  • You can utilize Pinterest and follow my Font Board for ideas or search for font ideas! I love finding cool fonts to try, like the ones in this post.

Easy Fonts

Easy fonts are similar to simple fonts. However, there are some easy tips I can give you that will change regular handwriting into a fun new font!

  • After writing a word, go back and add a slight curl at the end of each loose end.

  • Write your word, then add a dot to each loose end or joint in each letter. This technique adds a touch of cuteness to your words!

  • Once you have your word written, go back and add a small line to cross each loose end. This touch is so fun you will find yourself doing this more and more!

Handwritten Font

Handwritten fonts may sound silly because we just went through all of these fonts that you will be writing with your own hand! But did you know you can look up handwritten fonts too? There are entire alphabets that look like different styles of handwriting. So, look and see what you find. You may find a new handwriting style you would like to try!

Wrapping It Up!

If you have made it this far, I hope you found some fun bullet journal fonts to try in your next spreads! I want to encourage you by leaving you with some tips to help get you going.

  1. If you are new to trying out fonts in your journal, start with easy and simple fonts.

  2. Write or draw them in pencil first! It is so much easier to sketch it out first to see if you like it. If you like it, trace over it with pens, markers, or brush pens. If you don’t like it, erase it and try again! This tip is a super time and paper saver.

  3. Practice new fonts on scratch paper first. Testing things out on a piece of scratch paper is helpful, especially if you are pairing two types of fonts together.

  4. Find traceable printables. You can find traceable practice sheets online that can help you. Remember, you can access my cursive printables HERE. I will also be updating this post as often as I have a new lettering printable to share! So be sure to pin this post for later so you can come back to this post!

It was a pleasure to have you on the blog today! I hope you found some new font inspiration for you bullet journal pages that will spark creativity.

I would love to see what you create! Don't be shy and drop me a message or connect with me on social media.
