What Are Bullet Journal Bookshelves Used For?
If you are considering bullet journal bookshelves, there are a few different ways you can use them.
Bookshelf Theme
In June 2021, I did a books and blossoms theme! I created a bookshelf for my cover page and used the book spines to write “June” on the cover.
I then used bookshelves throughout my weekly spreads to decorate. It was such a fun theme! Here are some of the spreads I hope will inspire you.

Bookshelf Mood Tracker
A bookshelf mood tracker is one of my favorite ways to use a bookshelf in my bullet journal! Here is the mood tracker I made when I did a Beauty and the Beast theme.
I drew my bookshelf with four shelves, one for each week. Then, I added seven books per shelf to reflect the days of the week. Finally, to fill in any gaps, I added shelf decorations and bookends that fit my theme.
I chose three colors for my moods and filled in the colors that matched each day. As you can see from my finished tracker, it was an excellent month!

Bookshelf Habit Tracker
A bookshelf habit tracker is another idea to try! First, create a long-form bookshelf, one you can fit up to 31 books on. Then use one shelf per habit (example: workout, read, no sugar, etc.) Color in the books for each habit you accomplish that day. If you don’t accomplish that habit, do not color it.
Book Tracker
If you want something different from a traditional list of books you want to read or have finished, you can use a bookshelf for that as well! Here is one I created. Grab your FREE COPY of this tracker at the top of the post!
I love reading! I wanted a fun way to write down the books I had on my “to-be-read” list. So, I made this bookshelf to write down book titles!
You do not have to make one that covers two whole pages as I did. You can try one page if you want! Here are some exciting examples shared by other bullet journalists.

Another idea is once you have read that book, color it in to show you have finished it! This idea is a fun and functional way to track your books.

Bookshelves are fun to make in your bullet journal, no matter how you decide to use them. I hope you found some inspiration for your next bullet journal theme or book tracker!
